Over the past 4+ months I have watched hundreds of videos and read many articles on every aspect of photography. Each one I feel I have gained a greater understanding of my camera functions, lighting, post processing techniques, working with clients, etc. Some things just stump me! But I keep working on it until I understand it and can get the shot I am looking for. A few things I have taken away that is important for everyone to know:
1) You can get GREAT shots with minimal equipment! All you need is a camera, lens, memory card and a way to move your photos from your camera to your computer so you can share your awesomeness! Or use your phone! Really!
2) Not everyone is going to like your photography and that is OK. I know my photos are not perfect BUT they tell a story and that is what matters to me.
3) Photography is challenging and gratifying at the same time. There are times I will work for an hour to get the shot I want and either I don't have the right lighting, equipment or knowledge. But that makes me work harder and when I do get that shot it is AWESOME!
4) You can never stop learning and it is important to get out and practice.
So as I continue blogging I will share with you videos, articles and photographers YouTube sites that I thought were amazing and really helped me. Until then you may be wondering what the blog photo is all about! My biggest struggle was trying to underexpose ambient (available) light on sunny days and capture my subject where they are properly exposed. OR working in low light situations with motion and getting the shot with a shutter speed higher than my sync speed (1/200th). In order to do this I needed to use High Speed Sync (more on that in a later post!) and this is my practice shot! TOO much pollen outside so I chose low light with motion :) ALSO, if you want to learn more about a specific topic just let me know!
